The predecessor of Fuzhou Institute of Technology was Fuzhou Strait Vocational and Technical College established in 2004. In April 2015, it was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China, and it was officially upgraded to an undergraduate application-oriented college based on the Fuzhou Strait Vocational and Technical College. Facing the major strategic needs of the construction and development of the China (Fujian) Free Trade Experimental Zone and the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, the school has opened 42 undergraduate and junior college majors, and has formed engineering-based, management, economics that meets the needs of the society. The coordinated development of multi-disciplinary disciplines such as science, literature, and science, and a professional system of applied disciplines with local and industry characteristics. Focus on the establishment of five major professional groups: Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Big Data, Internet + Architecture, Internet + Finance, Internet + Business, and initially establish a discipline professional group with its own advantages and characteristics.    School is located in Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City, which is known as the "Golden Phoenix of Min Capital", adjacent to the beautiful national 4A-level scenic spot-Gui'an Hot Spring Leisure Tourism Resort. The campus is planned to cover an area of 1124.55 mu, with a total construction area of 400,000 square meters.


   The school currently uses a building area of 204,800 square meters, mainly for teaching and training groups, including various functional buildings and facilities such as teaching, experimentation, training, office, sports, and life.
