Fujian Institute of Technology is located in Fuzhou, a famous historical and cultural city known as the gateway to the "Maritime Silk Road". The school started in 1896 in the "Cangxia Jingshe" founded by the famous township celebrities Chen Bi, Sun Baozhen, and Lijun in the late Qing Dynasty, the famous Ming gentry Lin Shu, and the last emperor Chen Baochen. It was the first modern modern education in Fuzhou. In the long history of running a school, the school keeps pace with the development of the times and is connected with the destiny of the nation. Industrial education began to be held in 1908, and two subjects of railway and telegraph were opened. Before liberation, it was the prestigious "Fujian Senior Engineer", and it was a banner of vocational education in Fujian and even the whole country. In 1953, the school was separated into Fuzhou Industrial School and Fuzhou Construction Engineering School of the Ministry of Light Industry. After that, the two schools changed their names. In 2000, Fujian Advanced Industrial Technical School merged with Fujian Zhonghua Vocational University established in 1985 to form Fujian Vocational and Technical College. In 2002, Fujian College of Architecture and Fujian Vocational and Technical College merged and upgraded to Fujian Institute of Technology. In 2013, it was approved as a master's degree authorized unit by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, and was identified as a key construction university in Fujian Province.
For more than 120 years, the school has been adhering to the spirit of "truth, honesty, diligence, and courage", continuously inheriting and innovating, and condensing and forming the school-running characteristics around the discipline layout of "large electromechanical and large civil engineering".
