Xiamen University Jiageng College was founded in 2003. It is an independent college that is approved by the Ministry of Education and jointly organized by Xiamen University and Xiamen Jiageng Education Development Co., Ltd., a key university directly under the Ministry of Education. On October 21, 2003, Chen Zhili, then State Councilor, and Huang Ruilin, deputy secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, inaugurated the Jiageng College of Xiamen University, opening the history of Jiageng College's progress towards a high-quality university.
