In order to support and serve the development of urban smart public transportation such as urban rail transit and railway transportation (including high-speed rail and high-speed trains), Chongqing Communications Development Group wholly-owned Chongqing Public Transportation Vocational College in 2010. The college is the only higher vocational college funded by a municipal state-owned key enterprise in our city. It is a high-quality higher vocational college cultivation and construction unit in Chongqing. It is the only one in our city that is supported by the Municipal Transportation Bureau and the Municipal Education Commission. The transportation vocational college is the only transportation vocational college in our city with urban rail transit, railway transportation, and smart transportation as the mainstay. It is the only implementation in our city established by the municipal government. The higher vocational colleges under the Railway Employment Poverty Alleviation Project are among the first batch of higher vocational colleges in our city to pilot the new type of "apprenticeship" for enterprises.
The college is located in Shuangfu New District, Jiangjin District, Chongqing City. There are now 35 majors, including 21 majors in urban rail smart transportation and railways, 3 municipal-level backbone majors, 2 national demonstration (backbone) majors recognized by the Ministry of Education, and 5 municipal-level boutique online courses, which have been approved There are 2 "dual base" projects for higher vocational education in Chongqing, 3 municipal-level professional teaching resource bank projects, and 3 national-level professional teaching resource bank projects are under construction. In the past ten years, the college has recruited and cultivated more than 20,000 full-time academic education students and more than 100 international students. There are currently nearly 8,000 full-time academic education students, of which railroad and railway majors (directions) account for more than 70%.
Since its establishment, the college has followed the law of modern vocational education and teaching, deepened the integration of industry and education, and school-enterprise cooperation. The school-running characteristics have become increasingly prominent, and the connotation indicators have continued to improve. In 2015, the college was selected as the higher vocational college that Zhang Dejiang, former member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, inspected on-site. Zhang Dejiang fully affirmed the results of the college’s school-enterprise cooperation. In 2017, the college's teaching research reform and innovation project was approved the first prize of Chongqing Municipal People's Government for Teaching Achievement in Higher Education Institutions. In 2019, the Southwest Rail Transit Vocational Education Group led by the college was selected and recognized by the Municipal Education Commission as a model vocational education group for higher vocational education in Chongqing. It was jointly built with Chongqing Rail Group and China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Corporation to share urban rail and high-speed rail technology. The training base was recognized as a national production demonstration training base by the Ministry of Education.
The college adheres to the tenet of “relying on industry enterprises to run schools, serving the needs of industry enterprises, and boosting the development of industry enterprises”, and has established a professional system that closely connects smart transportation, especially urban rail and railway industry chains. The school and enterprise jointly set up more than 40 orders. It has delivered more than 8,000 compound high-quality technical and skilled personnel for leading enterprises in the bus, rail, and railway industries, as well as large state-owned enterprises such as China Railway Group and China Construction Group. The scale of skilled personnel trained and delivered for transportation industry enterprises ranks first in our city's universities. The employment rate of college graduates has always been maintained at around 98%, and graduate employment satisfaction has reached 95%. At the same time, the college also organizes more than 300 advanced research and special training programs for industry administrative departments, transportation companies, and countries along the "Belt and Road". It has carried out nearly 20 new apprenticeship training programs for enterprises, and cooperated with Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Cultivate foreign students, and was approved for the Silk Road Project of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government Mayor Scholarship for Foreign Students for four consecutive years. It provides strong support for the updating of knowledge and skills of employees in the transportation industry, as well as the improvement of quality and efficiency, and the transformation and upgrading of enterprises.
According to the college’s development plan, by 2020, build the college into a high-quality higher vocational college with a reputation in the national public transportation industry and a characteristic higher vocational college organized by a large state-owned enterprise group. By 2025, the college will be built into a first-class domestic High-level and high-quality vocational colleges for public transportation.
