In 1998, Zhang Ping, then executive vice governor of Anhui Province, led a government delegation to visit Australia and signed a science, technology and education cooperation agreement with the Western Australia government. After negotiation between the two parties, the Anhui Science and Technology Training Center and the Western Australia Central Government Institute of Technology (TAFE) jointly established the Anhui Sino-Australian Science and Technology Continuing Education College. In 2000, the college began to enroll students in general higher education as a specialized teaching site of Anhui University. In 2003, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the Anhui Sino-Australian Vocational College of Science and Technology was formally established on the basis of the Anhui Science and Technology Training Center (founded in 1984) and the Anhui Computing Center (founded in 1979). In 2010, the college successfully passed the evaluation of talent training organized by the Anhui Provincial Department of Education.
The college is the only test center for the IELTS in Anhui Province, the only test center for the British Chartered Certified Accountant Examination (ACCA) in Anhui Province, the only test center for the Practical Japanese Test (J.TEST) in Anhui Province, and the Documentary Credit Expert Qualification Examination (CDCS) ) The only test center in Anhui Province.
