Anhui Vocational College of Art is the only public comprehensive full-time higher art college in Anhui Province. Its predecessor was Anhui Art School, founded in 1956. The school was upgraded to the Anhui Art College in 1958. In 1959, the Department of Art of South Anhui University was merged to establish the Anhui Art Academy. In 1963, to implement the Bazi policy, the Anhui Art Academy was adjusted and restored to the Anhui Art School. In 1996, Anhui Art School and Anhui University jointly established the Anhui University Art School and began to recruit undergraduate and junior college students. In June 2003, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the Anhui Provincial Film School was merged into the Anhui Vocational College of Art. Since its establishment 60 years ago, the college has shouldered the important task of inheriting and promoting excellent culture and art and cultivating art professionals. It is rooted in the rich cultural soil of Anhui and has nurtured its own school-running traditions and characteristics. It has become the base for the training of cultural and artistic talents in Anhui. .
The college has two campuses, Xuancheng Road and Danxia Road, covering an area of 170.4 acres and a building area of 97130 square meters. There are more than 3,000 students in the school, including four levels of undergraduate, junior college, higher vocational and technical secondary school. Six departments (departments) of the Ministry of Fine Arts, Drama, Music, Dance, Variety Arts, Basic Education and an International and Continuing Education College are now set up, offering 19 majors including music performance, opera performance, dance performance, performing arts, fine arts and art design. (Among them, there are 2 provincial-level specialty majors), and 6 major groups of music, drama, dance, fine arts, film and television arts, and art design have been constructed.
