In 1904, Ma Qichang, the prime minister of Tongcheng Academy, followed the legacy of the late master of the Tongcheng School, Mr. Wu Rulun, and established a teacher training class in Tongcheng Academy, and started the teacher education in Tongcheng. For more than 100 years, Tongcheng Normal Education has gone through a bumpy and glorious journey after years of ups and downs. He successively experienced Tongcheng Simple Normal School (1944), Tongcheng County Junior Normal School (1951), and Tongcheng Normal School of Anhui Province (1957). In March 2010, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Anhui Province, it was upgraded to Tongcheng Teachers College.
Tong City is 90 kilometers away from the provincial capital of Hefei in the north and 60 kilometers away from Anqing City in the south. He'an High-speed Railway (under construction), Hejiu Railway, Shanghai-Chengdu Expressway, and 206 National Road run through the entire territory. The preschool education majors and the art design majors are "provincial characteristic majors" supported by special funds from the central government, and the primary education majors have been approved as the Ministry of Education "Professional and Curriculum Reform" demonstration project and provincial characteristic majors.
There are 270 faculty members and 47 teachers with senior professional titles, including 3 professors, 98 master's degree teachers, 4 provincial-level teaching teachers, 4 provincial-level teachers, and 31 "dual teacher quality" teachers. There are 6 provincial and ministerial quality courses. Anhui Province Computer NIT Training and Examination Base, Anhui Province Higher Education Self-study Examination Learning Service Center and Mandarin Test Station have been built. The library has a collection of 462,400 books, 4069GB of digital resources, and 490 current publications; standardized plastic track and field, basketball courts, volleyball courts, badminton courts and special table tennis rooms; general physics, general chemistry, computer maintenance, and psychology There are 66 on-campus training rooms for language, music, art design, preschool education, etc., and 51 off-campus internship training bases.

In order to promote the better development of the school, with the consent of the Anqing Municipal Party Committee and the Municipal Government, the construction of the new campus of Tongcheng Teachers College has started. At present, the main project has been capped. The overall positioning of the new campus is "Xiushui Pangong, a century-old school". According to the plan, the new campus is located in the eastern new city of Tongcheng, 5 kilometers away from the old city. The planned area is 1,000 acres and the building area is 200,000 square meters.
