Tongling Vocational and Technical College was upgraded to a higher vocational school approved by the Provincial People’s Government in 2000. It is the only municipal full-time higher education institution in Tongling City, the chairman unit of the Anhui Tongling Vocational Education Alliance and an excellent school for higher vocational education and evaluation by the Ministry of Education. . The college covers an area of 1051 acres, with a building area of 300,000 square meters (including under construction), and 20,000 students of various types (13,000 full-time students and 7,000 adult education students at TV University). There are 412 faculty members, including 291 full-time teachers, 70 senior titles, 190 "dual-teacher" teachers, 2 provincial-level teaching teachers, 7 provincial-level professional leaders, 6 provincial-level teaching talents, and provincial-level teachers 3 excellent teaching teams.

Higher vocational colleges offer 51 majors such as nursing, accounting, mechatronics technology, numerical control technology, copper handicraft design and production, including 1 national cultural heritage and innovation demonstration major, 2 central financial support construction majors, and 11 provincial-level characteristics And comprehensive reform pilot programs. Radio and TV universities offer 44 undergraduate majors and 39 junior majors, and a number of majors have emerged that are adaptable to regional development, have distinctive characteristics, have a high level of education and employment, and have outstanding advantages in combination of work and study.
The college adheres to the combination of work and study and school-enterprise cooperation, and strives to improve the quality of talent training. It has built a comprehensive training center with a total area of 50,000 square meters and 83 on-campus experimental training bases, including 1 central financial support construction training base and 2 provinces. The first batch of school-enterprise cooperation demonstration bases, the first batch of Taiwan exchange bases in a province, and 6 provincial-level demonstration experiments and training rooms, with equipment valued at 140 million yuan. Developed in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with 232 industry companies such as Tongling Nonferrous Metals, established 141 off-campus training bases, and the internship rate of students over half a year reached 100%. In the past five years, students have won 12 national awards, 13 provincial first prizes, and 52 second prizes in vocational skill competitions. Since 2011, the enrollment has been increased for seven consecutive years, and the employment rate of graduates has exceeded 95% for many years.
