Huaibei Vocational and Technical College was approved by the Ministry of Education in July 1999. It was formed by the merger of the former Huaibei Education College, Huaibei Mining Bureau Workers College, and Anhui Radio and Television University Huaibei Branch. The school and Huaibei Health School were merged separately. In 2002 and 2003, it was listed as a model vocational college with key support by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.
