Huainan Vocational and Technical College is an ordinary higher education institution approved by the Anhui Provincial People’s Government and registered by the Ministry of Education, and organized by Huaihe Energy Group; Anhui Polytechnic Technician College is the first batch of technician colleges approved and established by the Anhui Provincial People’s Government. The two schools run schools on the same site. .

The school was founded in April 1951 and has successively experienced the school-running stages of Huainan Coal Industry College, Huainan Mining Bureau Medical University, Huainan Mining Bureau Workers College, and Huainan Institute of Technology Vocational and Technical College. In 1999, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, higher vocational enrollment began. In June 2000, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the former Huainan Institute of Technology Vocational and Technical College, Huainan Mining Group Senior Technical School, and Huainan Coal Sports School merged to form Huainan Vocational and Technical College.

The school has two campuses, covering an area of more than 600 acres and a building area of 217,000 square meters. The school has a strong faculty.
