Fuyang Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive higher vocational college, founded in 1956, the first batch of education colleges by the Ministry of Education in 1984, higher vocational education started in 1998, renamed Fuyang Vocational and Technical College in 2001, and Fuyang Construction Technician in 2009 The school was merged into Fuyang Health School in 2013. The school is the first batch of demonstration schools in Anhui Province, one of the country's one hundred backbone higher vocational colleges, and the establishment of a local technical high-level university in Anhui Province. The only rocket army and strategic support force in Anhui Province to train non-commissioned officers.
Based on the locality, the school has established the orientation of running a school of “based on agriculture, focusing on engineering, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines”. It currently enrolls 43 majors, covering majors such as electronic information, medicine and health, culture and education, among which the central government Financially supports 6 key construction majors, and 26 provincial-level characteristic majors, backbone majors and comprehensive reform pilot majors. There are 135 training rooms and practice workshops in each professional school, and off-campus practice bases have been built outside the school and 287 companies.
The school continues to increase investment in scientific and technological research and development and teaching equipment, and has invested more than 5 million yuan in scientific and technological research and development in the past three years. The training room and other equipment are more than 35 million yuan, and the total value of the school’s equipment is 218 million yuan. The construction of the school has always been supported by the provincial party committee and the provincial government to accelerate the balanced development of northern Anhui. The Fuyang Municipal Party Committee and the municipal government attach great importance to and vigorously support the construction and development of the school, and timely adjusted the area of the new campus from 600 acres to 1,115 acres, with an estimated investment of 1.64 billion yuan, which expands a broad space for the further development of the school.

The school currently has 15,145 vocational students. The school meets the needs of military reform talents, and jointly cultivates a team of non-commissioned officers and students with technical skills that are politically qualified, strong in the military, and excellent in style. Currently, there are a total of 450 students in the two arms and two majors. In 2017, the school was awarded "National Defense Education Characteristic School" by the Ministry of Education. "Olive Green" has become the school's distinctive school-running characteristics and the beautiful scenery of higher vocational colleges in the province. From 2016 to 2019, teachers and students won a total of 350 awards in various competitions at or above the municipal level, a total of 916 students have won awards, and a total of 713 teachers have won awards, including 299 various awards in national and provincial vocational skills competitions.
The employment rate and employment quality of school graduates have steadily improved, and indicators such as graduate employment satisfaction, career expectation coincidence, and teaching satisfaction have shown a steady upward trend, which has certain advantages compared with the average level of national backbone schools. From 2016 to 2019, the number of school graduates was 11,911, and the average employment rate remained above 95%. In the past three years, the average employment rate in the province was 88%, and the average employment rate in Fuyang City was 58%.
