Ma'anshan Vocational and Technical College is located in Ma'anshan City, Anhui Province, a national civilized city and the city of Chinese poetry. The college was formerly known as Maanshan United University and was founded in 1984. In February 2008, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the independent establishment was renamed "Ma'anshan Vocational and Technical College". In December 2011, the college was integrated with Ma’anshan Technician College; in May 2015, Ma’anshan Health School was merged; in April 2019, Ma’anshan Internet University (Ma’anshan Branch of Anhui Radio and Television University) merged. In March 2020, Maanshan Vocational and Technical College was approved as a local skill-based high-level university construction and cultivation unit in Anhui Province, and entered the "G33+ Alliance" of local skill-based high-level universities in Anhui Province.
Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", the college has adhered to the positioning of "locality, skill-based, specialization, and high-level", gave full play to the advantages of resource integration of the "four schools", and accelerated the promotion of resource sharing, professional joint construction, and quality improvement. It is a good school-running pattern that focuses on the training of high-vocational and high-skilled talents, links up and trains middle and high vocational schools, and promotes both vocational training and continuing education for academic qualifications. Covering an area of 397,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 186,500 square meters, there are more than 100 experimental training rooms (centers, bases) in the school, and the total value of teaching and experimental training equipment exceeds 100 million yuan. There are 7 professional teaching departments in electronic information, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, economics and trade, management engineering, applied foreign languages, and medical nursing, and 2 teaching departments in basic department (ideological and political department) and online education department (TVU). There are 42 majors in higher vocational schools and 34 majors in secondary vocational schools. The degree of matching between the professional settings and regional key industries reaches 100%. There are more than 440 faculty members, more than 130 teachers with associate titles and above, 6 provincial-level skilled master studios, and 82.2% of professional teachers with double teacher quality. There are 10,270 students in secondary and higher vocational schools, and more than 5,400 continuing education students of various degrees. The average annual completion of various vocational training and skill appraisal exceeds 12,000. The employment rate of graduates has stabilized at more than 98%, of which the local employment rate of vocational graduates exceeds 30%, and the local employment rate of secondary vocational (technical education) graduates exceeds 85%.
The college adheres to the integration of production and education, school-enterprise collaborative education. All majors implement the school-enterprise joint development of talent training programs to strengthen dual-main sports people. The key majors have established a talent training model with the characteristics of integration of production and education, such as "three introductions and three outputs", "school-enterprise eight commons", "master team leadership", "realistic products", "light learning and prosperous work", and "three-stage progressive". Among them, "Xiaozhuang E-commerce College" was approved as a provincial-level school-enterprise cooperation demonstration base.
The college attaches great importance to skill competitions. Actively connect with the standards of the World Skills Competition, and strive to realize the use of competition to promote teaching, competition to promote learning, and competition to promote change. Teachers and students have won 32 national awards and 334 provincial awards. The college has accelerated the promotion of open cooperation in running schools. In cooperation with Hexian County, Bowang District and Zhengpugang New Area, teaching sites were established respectively in Hexian Campus, Bowang Campus and Zhengpugang New Area. Cooperated with German Vocational Schools to set up the "Sino-German Cooperation Class" for CNC majors; cooperated with Nanjing University, Beijing Normal University and other universities to set up modern distance education Ma'anshan Learning Center, which was awarded the "Modern Distance Education Excellent Learning Center". It has signed cooperation agreements on professional construction, teacher training, student research, etc. with Dongyi University in South Korea, Changwensung University in South Korea, Kyoto University of Information Science and Technology in Japan, Southeast University of Science and Technology in Taiwan, and Shupei University of Science and Technology in Taiwan.
In August 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping visited Ma'anshan during his visit to Anhui, and put forward important instructions for Ma'anshan to build the "Hangjiahu" of Anhui and the "Cabbage Heart" of the Yangtze River Delta. This is an epoch-making and milestone political event in the history of Maanshan's development.
