Hefei Vocational and Technical College (formerly Chaohu Vocational and Technical College) was established in 2002. It was merged and upgraded from the original Chaohu Health School, Chaohu Agricultural School (Anhui Land Management School), and Chaohu Finance School. One of the earliest higher vocational colleges established in the province. Subsequently, Anhui Automobile Transportation Senior Technical School, Anhui Radio and Television University Chaohu Branch and Chaohu Commercial Cadre School were merged. After the adjustment of the administrative divisions of Anhui Province in August 2011, in April 2012, the Ministry of Education approved Chaohu Vocational and Technical College to be renamed Hefei Vocational and Technical College. At present, it is the only comprehensive higher vocational college under the municipality in Hefei. It is the first batch of 16 local high-level high-level universities in Anhui Province established by the Provincial Department of Education. Higher vocational colleges are the winners of the 3rd China Quality Award Nomination Award, the first batch of vocational college principal training bases of the Ministry of Education, and the first civilized campus in Anhui Province.
The school currently covers an area of 1,260 acres, with a total construction area of about 500,000 square meters, and a total investment of over 2.3 billion yuan. There are 726 faculty members, including 564 full-time teachers, 48 professors, and 170 teachers with associate titles or above. The school is the first batch of "Chinese and foreign humanities exchange talent training bases in the field of intelligent manufacturing" approved by the Ministry of Education, "NIT talent training bases for skilled nursing professionals" approved by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health, and "NIT talent training bases" approved by the Ministry of Education. , Anhui Province Computer System High-skilled Personnel Training Base, Anhui Province Motor Vehicle Maintenance Practitioner Qualification Examination Test Center, Anhui Province Work Safety Qualification Examination Test Center. In September 2018, Hefei Huixinhu Campus was completed and put into use. The Hefei Huixinhu Campus mainly builds a professional group around Hefei’s pillar industries and strategic emerging industries.
