The predecessor of Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine was the "Wuhu Traditional Chinese Medicine School" founded in 1960. In 2001, the school was independently upgraded and was approved by the Ministry of Education in the following year. It was the first to be renamed "Anhui College of Traditional Chinese Medicine" among similar colleges and universities in the country. In order to integrate health education resources and strengthen the school's strength, in 2006, the municipal government assigned the Wuhu Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital to the school as a directly affiliated hospital; in 2012, the affiliated city dental clinic successfully established an affiliated dental hospital (Wuhu Stomatological Hospital) . The school covers an area of 997 acres, with a total construction area of 297,000 square meters. The school’s affiliated Chinese Medicine Hospital (Wuhu Chinese Medicine Hospital) was founded in 1958. It is known as "a flower of Jiangnan traditional Chinese medicine" in the Chinese medicine community, and is one of the first batch of demonstration Chinese medicine hospitals in the country and a national third-class Chinese medicine hospital. The Affiliated Stomatological Hospital is a secondary specialized hospital. Its predecessor was the Wuhu Dental Clinic established in 1956. It is currently the largest dental specialized hospital in southern Anhui.
