The predecessor of the school was Chuzhou Normal School founded in 1950. Passed through Chuxian Normal School, Anhui Normal University Chuxian Teaching Point (branch school); in 1980, it was renamed Chuzhou Teachers College; in May 2004, it was upgraded to Chuzhou College.
