Anhui Medical University is one of the earliest higher education institutions in Anhui Province, and the first higher medical institution in Anhui Province. The school is located in Hefei, a famous historical and cultural city known as "the lips and teeth in the south of the Yangtze River, and the throat on the right of the Huai River". The school is a key university in Anhui Province. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the National Health Commission and Anhui Province. It is the first batch of high-level universities with local characteristics and the first batch of comprehensive reform pilot schools in Anhui Province. The predecessor of the school was Southeast Medical University, which was founded in Shanghai in 1926. In 1949, in response to the call of the East China Bureau of the Communist Party of China to "face the countryside and go to the inland", it moved inland to Huaiyuan, Anhui. It was located in Hefei in 1952 and renamed Anhui Medical College. In 1985, it was renamed Anhui Medical University. As the birthplace of medical higher education in Anhui, the school has always been the pioneer, breeder and leader of higher medical education and health care in Anhui Province.
