Anhui University of Technology is located in Ma’anshan City, Anhui Province, a national civilized city, adjacent to Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. The coordinated development of university disciplines and a multidisciplinary university with distinctive industry characteristics. The predecessor of the school was the Maanshan Iron and Steel Industry School founded in 1958. In 1977, it was approved by the State Council to establish Maanshan Iron and Steel Institute; in 1985, it was renamed East China Institute of Metallurgy and belonged to the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry; Jointly build a management system based on Anhui Province’s management; approved by the Ministry of Education and Anhui Provincial People’s Government in 2000, East China Institute of Metallurgy and Anhui Commercial College merged to form Anhui University of Technology.
The school covers an area of 2,548.71 acres. There are two campuses in Jiashan and Xiushan. The building area of the school is 915,700 square meters, the total value of teaching and research equipment is 587 million yuan, and the collection of paper documents is 1,929,400. There are 17 teaching colleges, 62 undergraduate professional admissions, 17 first-level discipline master programs, 21 professional degree authorization points, 2 first-level discipline doctoral programs, and 2 post-doctoral research stations. There are 2,086 faculty members, including 221 senior titles, 487 associate senior titles, and 697 PhD teachers, which account for 53.8% of the total number of full-time teachers. There are more than 23,500 full-time undergraduates, more than 3,400 postgraduates, 402 international students, 408 students from Baosteel and Zhongtian junior colleges, and 7,405 continuing education students.

The school insists on establishing a quality school. The three disciplines of materials science, engineering, and chemistry rank in the top 1% of the global ESI rankings. Among them, engineering ranks 26th in the 2019 ESI University Engineering Hot Papers Ranking of Chinese Academic Institutions, ranking first in Anhui Province. The school successfully passed the 2017 review and evaluation of undergraduate teaching work by the Ministry of Education.
